GEAR & SET UP

TRAINING GEAR

  • Eyesight Trainer - shields #1, #2, #3

  • 8 or more agility poles with flags

SET UP

  • Set up two rows of poles with flags, the longer the better

  • Allow about 3 yards between the rows of poles

  • Allow 3 or more yards between each two poles in one row

  • Poles in both rows may be perfectly aligned or they can be placed at random distance to lower predictability

TRAINING DRILLS

PV24

FORWARD - TWIST - BACK WITH BALL

  • Stand between the first set of poles, wearing your Trainer, your head high, look into the shield

  • Dribble your ball forward until you see the next set of poles in your periphery, then turn by 180 degrees and continue (now facing the starting point and moving backwards), still minding the ball, towards the 3rd set of poles.

  • Once you see the 3rd set of poles in your periphery reverse your movement - move forward until you reach the middle again, then turn 180 degrees and finish at the starting point moving backwards

  • Repeat

As you progress:

  • Increase the distance between the left and right rows of poles to expand your peripheral awareness

  • Change the poles placement from session to session, make the left and right rows uneven to eliminate predictability, twist every time you see a new pole

Practice time: 2-3 minutes / 3+ sets

Practice Lenses: #2 and #3

Tips:

  • For more continuous training add pairs of poles to your set up. Twist each time you reach the next set of poles

PV23

  • Set up 6 poles with flags each at least 3 yards apart from the next

  • Wear your Trainer and look into the shield. Stand to the left of the first left pole (1), as viewed from your direction

  • Dribble forward until you see the next pole (2) in your right periphery. Pass the pole (take an extra step or two)

  • Then roll the ball to the right until you pass the right pole (3) and see it in your left periphery

  • Dribble forward again until you see and pass the next pole (4), roll the ball left again, pass the pole (5) and finish dribbling forward to the last pole (6)

  • Turn around and go back

Practice time: 3+ sets

Practice Lenses: #1, #2, #3
