Performance eyesight training regimens are a unique set of drills and techniques that were designed and structured to fit into existing practice routines and to be performed on the playing field to allow for a high skill retention, and an easy translation into game situations. It is surprising, mind re-framing, delivering results after a single session.
A full complimentary training program suitable for any sport or athletic training is available upon the registration of the athlete into the Academy. Other regimens are available on demand.
Training vision utilizing visual obstruction is a highly effective way of engaging and developing the full visual system. Focusing visual stimuli exactly where it needs to be allows the eye-brain connection to develop in a sharply focused manner. No distractions. One skill at a time.
The training is methodically structured to progressively guide the player from one technique to the next, increasing training difficulty over time.
The purpose of sports practice is to turn the unfamiliar (movements or situations) into familiar. The more familiar a situation becomes, the easier it is for the athlete to develop an automated response. Receiving a tennis ball is best practiced on the court, shooting at the upper ninety is best trained in front of a goal. The visual skill of recognizing opportunities in the game is best learned on the game/practice field.
At Overbound we keep things real. We teach the skills of seeing the game in the real world set-up, and thus allow the athlete to create new neural pathways in a way that can be recognized by the brain during the game.
Time is valuable, in life and during practice. Therefore Overbound Performance Training was designed with time scarcity in mind.
Overbound regimen is split into a series of training sessions, each requiring only 10 minutes of practice at a time.
It is about frequency, repetition, and getting into a habit of utilizing the eyes with intention.
Simple is necessary. The drills themselves, the way they are explained, and the way the program is set up.
Performance regimens fit into existing practices with hardly any modifications. They leverage traditional warm up routines and existing training props that all coaches have available (cones, poles, nets, etc.). Outside of the Eyesight Trainer, no special tools are required.

DOES IT WORK?
Eyesight is a skill and should be treated as such. Some players are naturally more gifted than others, but all can get better when exposed to the proper training.
VISION FIELD EXPANSION
Margaret (18; soccer) showed an expansion of her active vision field (her visual awareness) by more than 20 degrees in just one training session.
SACCADIC MOVEMENT IMPROVEMENT
Theo (11; soccer) showed an improvement of saccadic movement (necessary for ball tracking) by 22% over just 4 sessions.
MEASURING PROGRESS
Overbound provides a set of sheets (to be printed or digitally managed) allowing the athlete or coach to track the progress those visual skills that can be evaluated objectively via timing, counting, etc. The athlete and the coach are also encouraged to measure the improvement of the desired game skills over time in the manner those skills are usually evaluated. Additionally, the player should subjectively recognize their new ability and the coach should observe the improvement of the athlete’s behavior on the field.
